She was a few breaths away from “disposal.” Not her gentle inhalations, but the breaths of the ACO officer who was steeling herself to follow orders and dispose of the Lab. As the officer took one last deep breath and reached for the needle, the phone rang. After talking for a few minutes and with a breath of relief, the ACO officer replaced the phone and put the needle away.

A short time later, the rescuer walked in the door of the shelter and the ACO officer undid the latch on the cage. Free, the Lab ran as fast as a slightly overweight Lab with a furiously wagging tail can run. She ran past the ACO officer and straight to the rescuer and then flopped herself on the ground belly-up for a tummy rub. The rescuer looked at her, smiled at the ACO officer, and said, “Well, that’s that. You, my darling, are coming home with me".

Miss Magnolia Pearl is a lovely English-type Lab with a beautiful soul and impeccable manners. She is happy, enjoys splashing in water, loves to lean into you, and gets along with everyone and everything she meets. She seriously has one of the best temperaments we have ever seen and we have seen a lot of great dogs.

She is a little gray as is common in black Labs. Because her teeth are white and because her face and agility suggest a younger dog, we are guessing that she is about 5 or so (maybe a year more, maybe a year less). We insist that she be adopted by a person or family who will love her madly and pamper her so much that other people shake their heads at such silliness. She deserves it.

She will need a maintenance ear medication that is very affordable and some allergy tablets occasionally. She is otherwise perfectly healthy. These medications just help prevent any further issues that Pearl has had to endure from the neglect of her previous family.

If you are interested in Pearl and can provide a very loving home, please email junkgypsycowgirl@gmail.com for an application. Home check, vet check, and fenced yard required.
