Rio could be the poster child for the Labrador breed - he is a stunning bloock headed boy. Once you get past his good looks, you find he also has the best characteristics of the breed - he is affectionate, wants to be near you, is non reactive to other dogs and just seems to get along with everyone (but we don't know about cats).

He is big and strong; almost 80 pounds of pure muscle.

With all his good qualities, the one thing he is lacking is basic obedience skills. When he first arrived at his foster home, he pulled on his leash,  didn't know sit, and barged through the door like a bull in a china shop.  He has learned sit, is walking better with a gentle leader, but still wants to barge through the door. We are working on his manners but a commitment to obedience training and good exercise is an absolute must for the family who adopts him.
